Rating and Certification

EMFIS®, as the recognized authority in certifying low-EMF living spaces, plays a crucial role in safeguarding public health and environmental well-being.

Our certification system is distinct in its approach, offering a nuanced analysis that differentiates between high and low-frequency electromagnetic fields. This differentiation is vital because their shielding works differently, and achieving top marks on both categories shows extra commitment.

The EMFIS® Certification is not just a mark of compliance; it's a commitment to the welfare of current and future generations. By adhering to our standards, buildings and communities demonstrate their dedication to a sustainable, health-conscious future. The EMFIS® rating system is a testament to this commitment, providing a clear and scientifically-backed benchmark for EMF safety.

EMFIS® offers two distinct types of certifications:

  1. The EMFIS® Certification

  2. The EMFIS® Rating

See below to learn more about each type.

In summary, EMFIS® stands as a beacon of responsibility and foresight in an age where technological advancements continually reshape our living environments. Our certification offers more than just a standard; it offers a pathway to a healthier, more sustainable future, distinguishing our certified spaces as leaders in environmental and health-conscious design.

About the EMFIS® Certification

The EMFIS® Certification rewards proactive measures to protect against health risks related to electrosmog.

The EMFIS® Certification is a design tool assessing the intrinsic characteristics of buildings. Each criterion has its weight in the overall assessment, resulting in three levels of certification: Bronze, Silver, Gold.

The EMFIS® Certification is supplemented by an EMFIS® Stress Test Assessment: An on-site assessment which simulates worst-case exposure to validate shielding under load.

EMFIS® Rating uses 3 letters ranging from A to C

Rating examples

The EMFIS® Rating is a performance assessment tool. In-situ assessments are carried out by EMFIS® Assessors according to the EMFIS® Passive Integrity Assessment Protocol and using approved and calibrated measuring devices.

The EMFIS® Passive Integrity Assessment Protocole measures best-case exposure when all EMF sources are minimized.

Then, data points are aggregated into the EMFIS® Composite Rating, which ranges from AAA to CCC.

Here are some examples of EMFIS® Rating:

  • EMFIS® AAA rating.

  • EMFIS® ABB rating.

  • EMFIS® BBB rating.

  • EMFIS® CAA rating.
